The last days

Wednesday, 10 July, 2013

And just like that, moving is not a thing we will be doing at some point later this summer, but a process we are in the middle of.

We have 20 days left in Houston. I put in my notice at work almost two months ago and had my last day at the museum at the end of June. Charlie’s bedroom has been packed and is now a storage room for boxes, quickly filling up with the contents of the rest of the house. Multiple trips to Ikea have been made, and boxes and boxes of unassembled furniture have been purchased, all destined to be the craft room of my dreams.

I haven’t touched my knitting in weeks. Don’t have any mojo. And right in the middle of learning how to sew I packed up my machine and my little stash of fabric because I decided it’s a distraction I don’t need right now. I’ve been getting my craft fix by working on the Summer Sampler by The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery.

My “things to do before we leave Texas” list is almost completed. I’m making plans to see friends for the final time. And even though we have a house waiting for us in Lawrence, and probably 85% of everything we own is now in a box, it still doesn’t seems quite real that we’re moving. So it seems fitting that I leave you with this:

That song is so epic. Reminds me of Gob every time.

Best wishes as you get ready to move to Lawrence!
