What’s on the needles

thorn finished 1st section

Thorn, Brooklyn Tweed Loft in Plume

Thorn: I like this project a lot, I really do. But when given the choice between this and garter stitch, I think we both know what I’m going to chose.

But I made some progress this week! Another part down, and on to the second section, which means that I’m almost done with the ptbl (purl through the back loop), which UGH.

Socks for The Scientist: minimal progress

Herbivore: No progress

Guernsey Wrap: No progress

What’s off the needles

cameo finished

Cameo, MadelineTosh Vintage in Tern and Ms. Taylor

Cameo: This blog post was supposed to go up on Tuesday, but I delayed it until my first finished project of 2013 was off the needles.

I ran out of the contrast color, Ms. Taylor, a quarter of the way into the last section. There might have been a little bit of panicking because this color was discontinued last year, and there was none being destashed on Ravelry. Luckily, I was able to find a yarn store in Texas that had a single skein left. I ordered it on Friday, ran out of yarn on Sunday, and it was delivered on Monday. And it perfectly matched the other skein I used. WIN.

This shawl is exactly the size I was hoping for: giant. It’s snuggly and warm and I love it. Next up: blocking this behemoth.

Accountability: January

If there is even a whiff of a spreadsheet being helpful, I’m the girl who will have one put together and start gathering information in no time. Hi, I’m incredibly boring.

After adding up all the yardage in my stash last year, and being disappointed that the number was higher than I’d hoped, I thought it might be interesting to keep a spreadsheet of yarn coming in, going out, and being used up for the year, just to make sure I’m on the right track.

Oh look, I made one.

spreadsheet
Note: partially used skeins count as the full amount of yardage of the entire skein unless there is enough leftover to make another project because I am not that much of a pedant.

January totals

Yarn bought: 1205 yards
Yarn destashed: 2590 yards
Yarn used: 600 yards

Total: -1985 yards

I like your spreadsheet, but I would be a little frightened to see my yardage coming in compared to going out. I fear the numbers would not be in my favor right now.

Ooooo, a spreadsheet! I like it! I just try to keep mine in view, which annoys me, and then (hopefully) I’ll knit it up faster!

I am looking forward to enjoying your Cameo on Ravelry 🙂 It seems so nice!
