What’s on my needles

guernsey beginning

Guernsey Wrap, Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in Sweatshirt

Guernsey wrap: Remember that one time I said I wasn’t going to cast on any new projects until I finished the ones already on my needles? Because I don’t. I hardly made any progress on this because…

thorn section 4

Thorn, Brooklyn Tweed Loft in Plume

Thorn: The lure of this gorgeous pattern and being able to knit with Loft for the first time was too much. I love it. I might have been planning to cast on two more projects this week but never did because I was enjoying this one so much. I am really, really looking forward to watching all the football in the next few weeks, working on this the entire time, and then finally, triumphantly, naming it The Purple Shawl of Green Bay Superbowl Victory because my team is going to go all the way this year SOMEONE PASS ME A CHEESEHEAD*.

Abbie: I worked on this through two movies this week, and it made me unhappy the entire time. I loathe this yarn. HAAAATE. It’s really hairy and I spend as much time picking out stray bits as I do knitting. Which probably means I should frog it and cut my losses, even though I’m almost done with the body. I’m worried that if I finish it the yarn will still drive me crazy and I’ll never wear it.

Socks for The Scientist: In my quest to have these finished by the end of February, I have made hardly any progress on these because I am a failure.

Herbivore: No progress.

What’s off my needles

Nada.

Stash enhancements

I completely forgot to show you this last week!

A very sweet gift from The Scientist. I love it so much I’m not keeping it with the rest of my knitting tools, but right next to my chair.

Current obsessions

cameo

Cameo, by Paulina Popiolek

This will probably be the next thing I cast on, if I can ever decide for sure which colors I want to use. Although the pattern calls for fingering weight, I’m going to use worsted. I have a sizeable stash of MadelineTosh Vintage, enough that I’m going back and forth on several different color combinations. Grey and pink? Grey and navy? Grey and a different shade of pink? I think I have this yarn in four different shades of pink. I may have a pink problem.

*This is a cheesehead. How much do I love the Green Bay Packers? I wore one of these when I was a teenager. Willingly.

Congrats to pnwbookgirl! She was the winner of last week’s drawing. Hope you enjoy knitting Thorn as much as I am!

I don’t know that any of these counts as a FAIL. 🙂 I think you should have called it Cast on ALL THE THINGS. 🙂

Hehe, I love keeping fun, new things like the Tardis gauge right in your eye line! So enjoyable.

Can’t wait to see how your Guernsey Wrap knits up! Also, a pink problem is the best problem to have. Probably 75% of my Madelinetosh stash is various shades of pink…

You are even more awesome now that I realize you are a Packer fan…hello peep! I am so anxious about Saturday. I am sorry you feel bummed about your lack of progress success, that makes knitting no fun. That cameo is gorgeous.(iwillnotcastoniwillnotcaston)

I’ve recently cast on for a Guernsey Wrap, too, despite making the same promises to myself – must finish at least one WIP before doing so! Couldn’t resist the Tanis Fibre Arts in Poppy any longer, and now I’m almost six inches into it.
