Recreating your long lost, beloved Slouchy Copy Cat Hat thanks to the kindness of someone on Ravelry.

I lost the original almost two years ago in Raton, New Mexico, while I was moving down to Texas. It was accidentally left behind in a hotel room, and when I realized what I’d done, several days later, I was sick about it. Since then I’ve thought about that hat a thousand times, but couldn’t reknit it because the dyer changed the color recipe, then stopped dyeing altogether. I admit I became so desperate that I messaged the few people with this yarn in their stash on Ravelry and explained my situation, and asked them if they would be willing to destash their skein to me. Thankfully someone was.

My new hat is a little slouchier than the first version, but otherwise it’s pretty much identical.

The sought after and much loved black and purple yarn is Have You Any Wool Luxe Sock in Famous for Nothing. I held the yarn double, and knit it on size 6 and 8 needles.
