The one where I keep running out of yarn
What’s on my needles
Mara, Quince and Co Lark in Sabine
Mara: When I cast on for this shawl I knew I didn’t have enough yarn. There were three skeins in my stash, and I thought I would probably need four, maybe five. When I started in on the 4th skein I sort of mentally kicked myself for ordering that 5th skein because, you know, there was no way I was going to need it, and Quince and Co has a smallish put up at 134 yards so I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do with one extra skein.
And then I knit the entire 4th and 5th skeins, and I still wasn’t done. So I ordered another skein, because surely one more skein would be enough. Except that it wasn’t, and I ran out of yarn this weekend.
Third time has to be the charm, right? I’m ordering two more skeins, but there’s a little voice in the back of my head telling me to order three, just to be safe. I should probably listen to it.
Herbivore, Wollmeise 100% Merino Superwash in Petit Poison Nr. 5
Herbivore: My last few projects have been in neutrals or fairly muted colors, and I was in the mood for something BRIGHT. So I cast this shawl on in my lone skein of Wollmeise. I’ve never tried this yarn before, and I’m interested to see if it lives up to the hype.
Ulmus, Blue Moon Fiber Arts Socks that Rock Lightweight in Mossay and Waterlilies
Ulmus: In my mind, this project is going to work up really pretty. I know green, pink, purple, and orange isn’t a standard color combination, but I think they look great together. I also know there’s a possibility I might rip this out because it could end up resembling barfed up sprinkles.
Abbi: No progress.
Socks for the Scientist: No progress.
What’s off my needles
Lacy Baktus, Pagewood Farms Denali in River Rock
Lacy Baktus: About two thirds of the way through the skein these areas of dark purple started showing up, so the colors are mismatched from side to side. I think it will still look fine. I took these pictures before blocking, but my Lacy Baktus is drying now. It turned out way longer than I expected – definitely more of a scarf than a shawl.
Nothing! I was so busy getting things done over my Thanksgiving break that I didn’t have time to think about much else. Making an advent calendar, writing two blog posts, finishing one project and making progress on another, taking pictures of three finished projects, cooking Thanksgiving dinner, watching football and movies and Doctor Who…phew! I came back to work yesterday refreshed and energized. I love feeling productive.
