Bad Knitting Luck
Imagine this scene: you’re sitting on the couch, in the middle of an episode of one of your new favorite shows*, and you go to start the next row of the cardigan you’re knitting. Instead of knitting the first stitch, you’re left with a lap full of stitches and a broken circular needle cable. That was my night last night.
The Kindred Knits Yoked Cardigan was going along swimmingly until that point.
The pattern starts out in a 1×1 rib for 2.5″, then 2×1 rib for 3″, and I was up to a 3×1 rib when the cable broke. Luckily I was able to save all the stitches that fell off the needles, but since I have no back up cable the project is on hold until I get another from Knit Picks. I could use a smaller cable, but since this project is knit from the top down I want to be able to try it on as I go along.
I recently bought The Essential Guide to Color Knitting Techniques by Margaret Radcliffe. It’s a beautiful, inspiring book, and I was so excited to get it. I wasn’t so excited when I woke up this morning and found my kitty Olive had put her own special touches on it.
Thanks, kitty. It’s so much better now.
*Battlestar Galactica. How is it that it’s taken me so long to watch this? My husband and I are both hooked.
