Meanwhile, on the planet Skaro

Sunday, 11 January, 2009

If you know the significance of Skaro, give yourself 10 points.

This week was very busy at work, so not much has gotten done since my last post. I’ve managed to knit about two inches past the armholes.

This is the hardest color to photograph! It should be a deeper purple.

I am a huge Doctor Who fan. I have vague memories of watching episodes with the Fourth Doctor on PBS when I was little, and since the new version started on the BBC a few years ago I haven’t been able to get enough. Last weekend I began watching episodes with the First Doctor (from back in 1963), and the shows I’m watching today have the first appearance of the Daleks (who are one of the Doctor’s main rivals). They come from the planet Skaro. I’m making it my mission to watch every Doctor Who episode chronologically, which is going to be a huge undertaking. It ran continuously from 1963 – 1989, then a TV movie in 1996, and then picked up again in 2005. And in the first season alone there were 42 episodes. So, in the foreseeable future, if you ever wonder what else I do while I’m knitting, now you know.

Pretty, pretty purples! Remind me what you’re making?

Skaro! Genesis of the Daleks is great because it shows how the Doctor had a chance to stop them from being created but didn’t.

    & Lovely colors!

Hi! I found your blog through a project on Ravelry and I gotta say, I’ve loved reading through it. I’m actually from Rathdrum (though I’m not living there at the moment) and knitting while watching Doctor Who is one of my favorite things to do! Thanks so much for the great reading!
