All I want for Christmas is a snowblower

Thursday, 18 December, 2008

I called in to work this morning.

I think I had a pretty good excuse though. My car, since you can’t tell, is a VW Jetta.

See where the mark is on the back? That’s where the top of the trunk is. My husband completely shoveled off my car about 7:00 last night, so this is a little over 12 hours of snow accumulation. It started snowing before I left for work yesterday morning, and it’s not expected to stop until at least tonight. And possibly not until Saturday.

Nathan measured this morning, and in the last 24 hours we’ve gotten two and a half feet of snow. I’ve lived in Idaho my whole life, and I can’t remember getting a snow storm like this before.

I finished the first sleeve on my February Lady Sweater Monday night, and I have no excuses not to get the other one finished in the next couple days because obviously I’m not going anywhere.

I made one change to the sleeves. I didn’t have a small enough circular needle cable, so I’ve been using my circs like straights and will have to seem up the sides.

I do have some sad news. We had to take Zoey back to the shelter. She was such a sweet girl, but she would not use her litterbox. We took her to the vet, did everything he recommended to try to teach her, but none of it made a difference. I feel so bad, and so guilty, but we couldn’t have a cat that peed everywhere. We were able to exchange her for another cat, and ended up with this little girl:

Meet Olive. This is the best picture I’ve been able to take of her because most of the time she immediately tries to crawl onto my lap and cuddle. Olive is around 13 weeks old, she’s all black except for a tiny white patch under her chin, and her hair is longish. From the moment I brought her home she’s been acting like she knows this is her home. Andy is unimpressed, but is at least tolerating her.

At least she’s not a *green* olive, with a pimento! Very cute. And Andy is tolerating her, which is an improvement over Zoey, right?

I thought your car was a Honda Element; it had that straight up look!

    Stay warm, and happy knitting.

Ooooh, I love the color of your FLS. Have fun in w/ you snow day. We have enough snow in Seattle (it doesn’t take much) to keep us at home too, but since I work from home I am unable to call it unexpected knitting time…

Cute kitty! Sorry to hear about Zoey.

That’s a lot of snow! We’ve had way more snow than usual in SW Michigan as well – foot after foot after foot of it. It’s so pretty but not if you really want to go somewhere.
