One is the Loneliest Number

Poor sock. Poor lonely little sock.

All by itself in the world, it’s mate not even a sparkle in it’s mama’s eye yet.

Destined to stay that way for at least weeks.

This coming Friday is the opening ceremony for the Beijing Summer Olympics, and with it the start of the Ravelympics.

What are the Ravelympics? The goal is to make a project during the 16 days of the games that will be a challenge for you. Casting on isn’t allowed before the opening ceremonies, and your project has to be finished before the closing ceremonies end. My project: the February Lady Sweater, which could possibly be the most perfect fall sweater ever.

I’m going to be using Blue Moon Fiber Arts Twisted in Mossay.

No idea what needles I’m going to use yet, but swatching is allowed beforehand. It’s considered training.

I love knitters. We’re such a crafty (har, har) bunch. You know that challenging ourselves in our discipline the way the athletes are challenging themselves in theirs is just a pretty way of saying ‘this is a total excuse to sit on our asses inside during the hottest time of the year, doing our favorite thing in the whole world for two weeks,’ right?

No Ravelympics for me; I can’t take the pressure! But your yarn is perfect. Looking forward to seeing the result. Swatching as training, LOL.
