If it was anyone else I would wonder if they were closet goths

Guess what my Dad bought my Mom for Valentine’s Day!

A cemetery plot. For reals.

According to my Mom, this is the most romantic gift ever because it shows he’s been paying attention to her for all these years. I, on the other hand, have also been paying attention to her for all these years, and my reaction is more one of being creeped the hell out.

The bright (?) side of all of this is it is in the cemetery where my father-in-law, and someday my mother-in-law, is buried, so it will be our one-stop shopping stop for all our cemetery visiting needs.

I was going to give an update on my knitting, but there’s no way I can top that.

Honey, you just need to think about this and try to understand. You know how I have told him for years I want him to make my casket etc. well he is listening. We are going to find a large rock and he will have a squirrel engraved on it – perfect headstone. Love you! I would like an update on your knitting.

Someday you will understand that this is a good thing.

This is hard for kids to understand. I need to get my daughter to listen to details about my will and medical wishes and she can hardly stand the thought of it. Yes, it’s a difficult thing for kids to face, but it makes us parents feel like we’ve taken care of something important.
