That’s so wonderful that you can connect with your Grandpa’s memory, and share it with your family, too. Grandpa/granddaughter relationships have always seemed special to me. My grandpa died suddenly a little more than a week before my fourteenth birthday. He was an engineer who held dozens of patents and fixed his broken glasses with duct tape, and I had only just started appreciating how amazing he was when he died. There are little things that remind me of him every so often, and it’s a bittersweet feeling of both love and regret that there wasn’t more to remember.

Can’t tell you how moved I was by this. It surprised my that I cried and cried and cried after reading it. I am still crying but it is okay. Our whole family are Cubs fans. My favorite memory of him is sitting on the front porch, feet up on the rail, drinking a cold beer and listening to the game. It was summer! So sad to think you never knew Grandma and have no memory of Grandpa. Uncle Jeff’s children too. I will try harder to give you more stories. Your grandparents were good people and I thank you so much for this. Love you sweet girl.

Charlie looks like a fun guy to have around. When he gets around to learning to knit/purl, he might like to knit One Red Worm: http://www.cityworm.com/oneredworm.htm Ryan did, when he was 7 or 8 or so? Can’t remember, but it was cute. Naomi Dagen Bloom now lives here in PDX, instead of NYC, and I met her and told her about it. She was tickled!

What a little buddy! Good for you to figure out a way to spend time with Charlie and knit. Like your new project too. Wasn’t too sure about the colors but now that the band is done it pulls it all together. Lets see how it looks on! Love you!

Personally, I find all those topics fabulous and totally blog worthy. The aqua and red looks pretty good together, too. It was a color combination I was hesitant about, but I saw them paired a few places about 2 years ago, used it in a project and it looks great! Also, even though I’ve only followed you through blog land, I’m really happy that you’ve found that special kind of “ordinary” happiness. Really, that’s the kind that’s most exciting because so few people really have it and it’s a truly amazing feeling to let the calm sink in and have the “I can’t believe how wonderful everything is right now!” feeling.
