Cotton for everyone
3 Feb
Today is my blog’s second birthday!
In it’s first year, it saw 9,428 visitors.
In it’s second, there were 52,950.
Wow!
If you pay attention to such things, you may know that cotton is the traditional gift you give couples on their second wedding anniversary. As my way of saying thank you for reading my blog, I thought I’d do a cotton-related giveaway!
Blue Moon Fiber Arts sells a cotton sock yarn, and I’m giving two skeins of it away to one lucky reader – enough for a pair of socks. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment with what color(s) you’d like. Of course, if you have any suggestions for the blog I’d love to hear them too.
I’ll keep the giveaway open until midnight on Wednesday, February 10.
It has been a terrific year. Thank you so much for being a part of it – your comments always mean a lot.

Congrats on your 2-yr blogaversary! My fav. BMF cotton color is definitely Sunlight. I loved Granny Smith too, but Sunlight just kept popping out at me.
I only found your blog this year, but I really enjoy reading it. You post some of the best pictures of FOs.
Happy Blogiversary! Even though I mostly lurk, I love stopping by to check out the projects you’re working on. Best wishes for another great year!
Oops…forgot to leave my color choice! For me, it would definitely be Granny Apple.
Thanks for the generous giveaway!
Congratulations! That’s quite a big difference in visitors! I found you through Ravelry – looking for a simple shawl to work on, and found Multnomah (and made it), and stayed to read.
Hope the coming year is even better than the last!
First of all, congratulations on your blog aniversary!
I loved your idea of giving cotton as a symbol for 2 years aniversary! All the colors are really great, but “coral” is my favorite!
Kisses,
Fabiana (Brazil)
Oh, whoops, color choice….I’d love chocolate and buttercream!
Happy blog-a-versary! And thanks for letting us share in what you do.
and a giveaway prezzie — what fun! BMF cotton — I’d love poppy if I won!
(PS. really appreciated last blog post with photos of differences in the Madelintosh yarn — really was helpful! Wish more people would do this, as we can’t all get to super LYSs that would have it in the first place!)
Congrats again!
Maryjo
Ohh congrats! My blog’s first anniversary is tomorrow! Crazy. Sunlight for sure!
Congratulations! Happy blog-a-versary! I made Multnomah my first shawl right after I discovered your blog. Thanks!
Curry, curry!
Every evening when my kids are gone to bed I do my check on your blogg to se what you have created this time. Love the inspiration from it. I defenitely prefeer the Green apple yarn.
Good day! All the way from Australia
Happy blogiversary!! I love your blog and am drooling over the Tea Leaves Cardi as I can’t seem to be able to buy the yarn anywhere. I Love the colour you have chosen.
As for colour choice for the cotton, Granny Smith and Sunlight sound good.
Have a great day
Traci
Happy Blogiversary!
Would love Chamois! Thanks for the giveaway!
Even though I saw you all around Ravelry the last couple years, I didn’t start reading your blog until I started following you on twitter. I don’t know why it took me so long because I LOVE it. A lot of my favorite knit blogs from back in the day have gone into hibernation (including my own former beloved blog, *sob*) so I love discovering new ones! Even though it’s really easy to see what everyone’s up to on Ravelry, I still really enjoy reading blog posts about what everyone’s knitting. Here’s to a wonderful 3rd year!
(my fave color of sock candy is Curry!)
Grats! I think I found you via Miranda’s Exquisite with Love, and I stayed after I read your experiences of knitting for your future self, because I’m in the same situation. Your FO pics are wonderful!
I can’t choose a favorite color – I like Curry, Chocolate, and Terra Cotta pretty equally, so just surprise me if I win.
While I should pick something fun like Poppy, I have to go with my always first choice pick – Chocolate!
Congrats on two years!
Congratulations on your 2nd aniversary. It is always a pleasure to read on your blog. My favorite colour is Coral.
Annegret
Yaaaaay! Happy Blogaversary! Unfortunately I don’t think I’ve been following since day one, but I always enjoy your posts, Kate.
My favorite BMF cotton color is the khaki.
What a milestone! Congrats!
I am really <3ing Terra Cotta right now.
Way to go! the terracotta is just lovely!
Congratulations. I’ve meant to tell you that I love Multhomah. Keep up the great work. I think I favor the curry color
Congrats on two year!
I like copper the best.
Congratulations on two years!
I like both denim and terra cotta, both are pretty colors.
Congratulations! Oooooh, pretty! Lavender is lovely, also terracotta. I love the mix of the fibery and life-y stuff on your blog. It’s nice to know something of one’s backstory, right?
Looking forward to year 3…
congratulations on 2 years! wanted to thank you for the wonderful Multnomah shawl pattern … really enjoying making it! any color will do for me if I’m chosen … tho I wouldn’t mind any shade of green.
Happy anniversary! I’ve enjoyed your blog for a long time, but still haven’t met you in person! So close last summer at Sock Summit. We’ll just have to try again.
If you pick me, it’s denim! So perfect with jeans…
Happy Blog-aversary!! If I were the lucky one I would love denim!
My boys have been wanting socks so this would be a great boy color!
Happy Blogaversary! I think part of that visit count has to do with the popularity of Multnomah. It’s such a sweet little shawlette. =) I know that I would be thrilled to have a pattern become as popular.
Also I love the Terra Cotta and Poppy colors. ^_^
Happy Blogiversary! I found you via Multinomah on Ravelry and absolutely love your blog.
Color me conservative: Oats.
Cheers!
Congratulations on two years!
It’s a tough choice, but I think I’d choose Celery.
Happy Blogiversary!
I recently was given some Blue Boo Sock Candy by a Sockateer. I’m going to use them for Sock Hockey in Ravelympics. Love the red in the Poppy.
Happy Knitting!
Happy blog-o-versary!
I have the Sock Candy in Celery but haven’t done anything with it. I do think the Khaki would look good for some durable man socks.
Well, looks like I found your blog at the right time. I’m adding it to my list of blogs to read. Congrats on your anniversary!
Congrats on your blogiversary! (Is that word in the dictionary yet? Should be!
)
I love the poppy colour. Such a lovely red, and I think it’d be great to try cotton hand knit socks. I might have to try it out sometime if I don’t win!
Congrats again.
Congrats on the 2 years! Love your pictures and thanks for the enlightenment with madeline tosh… i now want some
All the colors are scrumptious but i think i like oats best.
Congratulations from Mexico!!! I love your blog and all your knits….My favorite color…..chocolate I think.
I love your blog. I am trying to blog myself and it just doesn’t seem to work so well for me. I think I live the pink sherbet color the best.
Not sure I’ve ever commented before, but I’ve been reading your blog for over a year and enjoying your gorgeous, well executed projects.
I was first attacted to it because of the location – my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter live in Post Falls and son works at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. I visit Northern Idaho (from my home in SW Michigan) as often as possible.
Congratulations on your two years. My color is Poppy.
Since the daylight is getting longer I think the Granny Apple would make a fine pair of socks for the spring. I like your blog just the way it is – a bit personal, a bit of knitting, a bit of this & that & of course the Multnomah shawl – thank you
Congratulations! I would like Celery if I win.
Happy Anniversary! Curry seems like a delicious color – the perfect way to welcome spring. Your blog is fantastic. Keep it up!
Have been doing a ‘halfassed’ rearrangement of my stash and found a couple of lonely skeins of sock yarn. They looked like they needed to be loved, so I popped in on Ravelry to check for an appropriate pattern. There it was!! Multnomah was calling my name. Came looking for the pattern and found your excellent site. A great HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you. (Yes, I was yelling so everyone would know.) Of course, one click leads to another and I checked out the sock yarn at Blue Moon. The chamois color just sings out to me of the coming days of spring and summer. Reality is that the area is under a warning and expecting 28″ – 30″ of the white stuff. Great time to knit – keeps your fingers moving to keep warm. So thank you for the pattern and a momentary veer off-course. I will be adding the site to my ‘check it out’ folder.
Penny
Congratulations! I am always wild about the bright colors
Happy Blogiversary!
I found my way here as I am a fan of the Multnomah – what a lovely pattern and so well written. Please keep designing!
I am looking forward to what year 3 will bring for you.
Congraulations for your Two years. I hope I can do as good because I just started two weeks ago. I enjoy your blog and as for a color I like apple green.
Congratulations on 2 successful years!
The pretty, pretty Poppy speaks to me.
I so love cotton, especially for socks.
I can’t beleive it has been two years. I should have posted comment sooner, but too lazy to do more than stop and enjoy the view. Great blogging!
I so love cotton, especially for socks. Love any shade of blue.

I love deep, forest-y colors (is that a word?), greens, blues, dark reds.. anything but pink and purple.
Unrelated, but I’ve been reading for a while but haven’t commented yet. I’m a Coeur d’Alene knitter (think I saw you on Ravelry) and I love all the stuff you’ve been doing lately. I think we have the same tastes in knitting. Although, I’m very new and the hardest thing I’ve done so far is a hat. I’m totally jealous of the vest you just finished.
Happy Blogiversary! Here’s to many more years to come!
Greetings! I am just about to cast on for Multnomah!
How fortunate that you are able to give yarn away
I would love any color really.. I like Khaki and Poppy and Coral.. so many choices.
Happy Blogiversary, the blog is great! I am getting ready to cast on Multnomah! I guess I would choose the pink sherbet color. Have a great weekend.
Congrats on the blogoversary and the fantastic visitor numbers.
The sunlight really popped for me although I like Denim too.
I have queued Multnomah…haven’t cast on yet. I have a yarn in my stash that I bought a couple of years ago, wanted to make a shawl, but didn’t know what til I saw your pattern. I love anything blue/purple/pink. Just started following your blog a month or so ago; enjoy reading it!
Happy Blog anniversary. I recently started reading your blog and have it book marked in my favorites. As others have mentioned, I was looking at shawlettes on Ravelry and found Multnomah. I plan on casting Multnomah on for this winter’s Knitting Olympics. I am also very motivated by the changes you are making appreciate your willingness to share.
I like the Khaki color. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity.
Congratulations on reaching the 2 year milestone!
I’ve always enjoyed your blog. Thank you for sharing your project details and knitterly knowledge. It has inspired me to try new things and introduced me to many yummy new yarns.
Best wishes for many more years of happy knitting!
Congrats on the 2 years! I just found your blog not to long ago and always have to check out what your knitting next. Thanks for sharing as I can always get great ideas about patterns and yarns.
I like the dusty blue color!
Thanks! Happy knitting…
Congrats on two years! I found your blog yesterday, and see tons of things I want to knit!
I really like the “Poppy” colorway of the Sock Candy solids.
I look forward to reading your blog in the future!
Congratulations…and I’d love to be surprised. I’ve found that when I get some unexpected colors in my life, I really enjoy them. So I’m game for anything!
Congrats on your blogiversary! I stumbled upon your blog after finding Multnomah, and I love your taste in both yarn and yarny colors. Speaking of which, I have a serious crush on the Poppy colorway of Sock Candy – and it seems as though I’m not alone.
Happy knitting!
Happy Anniversary! I just bought yarn for your Multomah Shawl today and can’t wait to cast on.
If I win I would love the coral color.
Happy Trails,
Emily
ยก Feliz aniversario !
My favorit color is red (poppy). But I like to knit some socks for my husband – and his color is blue. And so my choice is DEMIN.
I hope I`ll be the winner,
saludos de Mallorca/Spain
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!
I like Poppy, what a pretty color!
Keep your wonderful patterns coming. You do such great stuff and it is fun to follow you with your patterns and your other goals. Thanks for sharing yourself. And if I win, you pick! Happy anniversary…
Like others I came for Multnomah and love your beautiful photos.
As a wool-sensitive knitter, I’d love to make a pair of fingerless gloves in khaki, oats or curry.
Happy Anniversary!
Congrats on your blog-iversary! (: The dusty blue is my fave…..
