Sundara Seasons Club: June 2008

Yesterday I received my first round of yarn from the Sundara Seasons Club. Sundara is one of the most amazing dyers out there; her colors are so vibrant and complex. When you sign up for her yarn club you choose from Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, and the colors of yarn you receive are inspired by that season. I signed up for all four seasons, and will be receiving a package from her every other month for the next year. Here’s what I got:

Winter

Granite Falls, 1000 yards of 100% silk. This is laceweight. In person the yarn is icy blue with strands of grey and silver throughout.

Summer

Jungle Boogie, 350 yards of merino wool. Sock weight. This color was impossible to photograph. Imagine the perfect color of grass in the shade. It has hints of cucumber. My favorite of the four.

Fall

Arabian Nights, 350 yards of merino wool. Sock weight. Rich, deep brown with copper and purple tones. The skein is darker than the photograph, but I chose this photo because you can see the color variation the best.

Spring

Prickly Pear, 350 yards of merino wool. Sock weight. It reminds me of the insides of a honeydew melon, but a little lighter. You aren’t able to see it in the photo, but if you looked closely at the skein, you would see tiny flecks of red. It is a pretty color, but not one that I would ever chose to knit with. I’ve already traded this skein for another Sundara sock color from last year’s Season Club:

Bronzed Forest. I won’t be getting this yarn until next week, but I doubt Marisol would mind me using her picture. I’ve been coveting this color for awhile now.

The next mailing will be in August, and Sundara will be sending out three skeins of lace and one sock. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with!
